Fruit and vegetable vendors are taking center stage in these preparations, with an increase in their numbers reflecting the anticipation of high demand during Ramzan. The strategic placement of stalls at vantage points across the city indicates a proactive approach by the sellers.

According to local vendors, the holy month of Ramzan brings a substantial boost in sales for fruits and vegetables. Sales are expected to be particularly high during this period. This surge in demand is prompting individuals to set up stalls ahead of time, ensuring they are well-prepared to meet the needs of the community.

Shaik Zabi, a fruit vendor, shared insights into the economic impact of Ramzan on the vendors. With a small investment of Rs 4,000, vendors are reportedly able to earn between Rs 800 to Rs 1,000 a day during the month of Ramzan. This economic opportunity not only supports vendors in meeting their immediate needs but also allows for savings for the upcoming Eid celebrations.

Interestingly, many individuals are engaged in working with big traders who offer a fixed daily wage of Rs 600, regardless of the profit or sales. Those with larger investments of Rs 1 lakh and above are employing multiple individuals to sell fruits on pushcarts. The workers’ role involves selling the fruits and handing over the day’s proceeds to their employer in exchange for wages.

The peak business hours for fruit vendors during Ramzan are noted to be between 2 pm to 6 pm, while vegetable vendors experience heightened activity between 5 pm to 11 pm. This highlights a specific window of opportunity for vendors to maximize their sales and meet the demands of the festive season.

Wholesale markets are also witnessing encouraging arrivals of various fruits, including papaya, apples, guava, pineapples, grapes, oranges, watermelons, and dates. However, a fruit wholesaler at Jambagh market cautioned that due to the anticipated high demand, retail prices might witness an increase by local sellers. Nevertheless, the overall expectation is that wholesale prices will remain normal during this period.

As the city gears up for the holy month of Ramzan, these bustling activities not only mark the onset of festive preparations but also underline the economic opportunities for local vendors and traders. The vibrant street scenes and increased market activities contribute to the unique charm and spirit of Ramzan in Hyderabad.
